Center for Forensic Psychiatry

A treatment service improving existing provision and developing new ways of protecting forensic psychiatric patients, reducing the duration of hospitalization, increasing the efficiency of rehabilitation, and enabling further social inclusion of forensic psychiatric patients. Furthermore, this service aims at sex offenders with child victims in both inpatient and outpatient settings. In addition, we provide treatment and support for people with sexual interest in children who have not yet offended.

The services are open to forensic patients, but also to sex offenders with child victims at any stage of legal procedures. Furthermore, it is open for people with sexual interest in children who have not offended. Our help programme offers concrete help as follows: Admission and provision of information. Consultation, symptom analyses, expertise. Counceling, treatment and guidance specially devised for offenders: In the legal context, reporting back to the counts. In the non-legal context, reporting back to the general practitionar of the patient. Such help and guidance requested by the offender and his/her milieu. System support with the function of a therapy for offenders.

A referral from a family doctor or internal referral from the Psychiatric Clinic is required. Patients must be eligible for health insurance. Patients who do not have Croatian health insurance can access the sevice directly, but will have to pay the service by themselves.

This service operates within medical patient confidentiality. Mandatory reporting laws are in place for all professionals in the country.
